The regional quarterly aquatic animal disease (QAAD) reporting system has being implemented since the second quarter of 1998. The QAAD system continues to provide a useful mechanism for aquatic animal disease information sharing amongst 21 participating governments in the Asia-Pacific region. The QAAD reporting system is a joint activity between NACA, FAO and OIE Regional Representation (Tokyo). The 2008/4 QAAD report includes disease information from 15 countries and the foreword provides some information about "Import requirements for live aquatic animals and their products for the European Union".

Since the second quarter of 1998, the quarterly aquatic animal disease (QAAD) reporting system continues to provide a useful mechanism for aquatic animal disease information sharing amongst 21 participating governments in the Asia-Pacific region. The QAAD reporting system is being implemented as a joint activity between NACA, FAO and OIE Regional Representation (Tokyo). The 2008/3 QAAD report includes disease information from 16 countries and the foreword provides an updated review of emerging crustacean diseases in the region.

In this issue -39th in the series-the foreword provides information about the recently completed seventh symposium on diseases in Asian aquaculture, organized by the Fish Health Section of the Asian Fisheries Society.
