The 2006/3 QAAD report includes disease reports from 17 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The report also provides a summary of emerging diseases in the region. In addition to all the OIE listed diseases, QAAD reports cover diseases of regional importance and hence serve as an early warning system for some of the emerging diseases in the region. The first QAAD report for the period July-September 1998, compiled by the National Coordinators of the FAO/NACA/OIE regional project was published in April 1999. Since then, QAAD reports have been published regularly and the present issue -QAAD 2006/3 ? is 33 rd in the series

Infectious myonecrosis (IMN) caused by IMNV is a new viral disease identified till recently only in northeast Brazil in cultured L.vannamei. IMNV was considered exotic to the Asia-Pacific region, till recently. The 2006/2 QAAD report includes the first report of IMN in L. vannamei from Indonesia. The first QAAD report for the period July-September 1998, compiled by the National Coordinators of the FAO/NACA/OIE regional project was published in April 1999. Since then, QAAD reports have been published regularly and the present issue -QAAD 2006/2 ? is 32nd in the series. Over the years, the quality of reports and epidemiological comments provided by 21 participating countries in the Asia-Pacific region has improved significantly. QAAD reports are very relevant to the region since it covers diseases of regional importance (IMNV, WTD) and serve as an early warning system.

The first Quarterly aquatic animal disease (QAAD) report for the period July-September 1998, compiled by the National Coordinators of the FAO/NACA/OIE regional project was published in April 1999. Since then, QAAD reports have been published regularly and the present issue -QAAD 2006/1 ? is 31st in the series. Over the years, the quality of reports and epidemiological comments provided by 21 participating countries in the Asia-Pacific region has improved significantly. List of diseases for the regional QAAD reporting are revised annually to reflect the aquatic animal disease situation in the Asia-Pacific region and to conform with changes to the OIE Aquatic Animal Health Code. QAAD reports are very relevant to the region since it covers diseases of regional importance even if they are not listed by the OIE and creates awareness of aquatic animal health problems and serves as an early warning system.

The 2006/4 QAAD report includes disease reports from 14 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The report also provides the list of diseases in the 9 th Edition of the OIE Aquatic Code and list of diseases in the Asia-Pacific regional quarterly aquatic animal disease (QAAD) reporting system effective for reporting from the first quarter of 2007. The first QAAD report for the period July-September 1998, compiled by the National Coordinators of the FAO/NACA/OIE regional project was published in April 1999.
