AGM-8 was held on 2-4 December 2009 at NACA Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting attended by 10 Advisory Group and 3 co-opted members, addressed key aquatic animal health issues in Asia, including review of emerging aquatic animal diseases in the region, outcomes from the OIE General Session (May 2009) and the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission meeting (October 2009), World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS), FAO supported aquatic animal health activities, regional quarterly aquatic animal disease reporting system, new OIE disease list, list of diseases for 2010 QAAD reporting, implementation of the Asia Regional Technical Guidelines, functioning of the three tier regional resource base and ways to further strengthen regional and international cooperation in Asian aquatic animal health management. The AG constituted by NACA governing council in 2001, has been providing advice to Asian governments and NACA on aquatic animal health management matters in the region. The seventh meeting of the Asia Regional Advisory Group (AG) on Aquatic Animal Health (AGM-7) was held from 15-17 December 2008 at the NACA Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting attended by ten Advisory Group and two co-opted members, addressed key aquatic animal health issues in Asia, including a review of emerging aquatic animal diseases in the region, outcomes from the OIE General Session (May 2008) and the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission meeting (October 2008), World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS), FAO supported aquatic animal health activities globally, regional quarterly aquatic animal disease reporting system, new OIE disease list, list of diseases for 2009 QAAD reporting, EU import requirements for live aquatic animals, implementation of the Asia Regional Technical Guidelines on Health Management and the Responsible Movement of Live Aquatic Animals, functioning of the three tier regional resource base and ways to further strengthen regional and international cooperation in Asian aquatic animal health management.

The AG constituted by NACA Governing Council in 2001, has been providing advice to Asian governments and NACA on aquatic animal health management matters in the region. Members are experts from government and the private sector with representatives from FAO, the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission of the OIE, the OIE Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific, SEAFDEC and NACA. The final report has been circulated to the region�s fisheries and veterinary authorities and made available for free download through the NACA website.

The sixth meeting of the Asia Regional Advisory Group (AG) on Aquatic Animal Health ( AGM-6) was held on 12-14 December 2007 at NACA Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting attended by 10 Advisory Group and 1 co-opted member, addressed key aquatic animal health issues in Asia, including spread of emerging aquatic animal diseases in the region, outcomes from the OIE General Session (May 2007) and the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission meeting (October 2007), World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS), regional quarterly aquatic animal disease reporting system, new OIE disease list, list of diseases for 2008 QAAD reporting, implementation of the Asia Regional Technical Guidelines on Health Management and the Responsible Movement of live aquatic animals, functioning of the three tier regional resource base and ways to further strengthen regional and international cooperation in Asian aquatic animal health management. The fourth meeting of the Asia Regional Advisory Group on Aquatic Animal Health (AGM-4) was held at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo, Sri Lanka on 22nd ? 24th October 2005. The Regional Advisory Group (AG), constituted by NACA, in cooperation with OIE and FAO, provides advice to NACA and Asian governments on aquatic animal health management. During the three-day meeting, the AG addressed key aquatic animal health issues in Asia, including regional disease reporting system and emerging aquatic animal disease problems (emphasizing white tail disease in Macrobrachium rosenbergii, monodon slow growth syndrome, taura syndrome and infection with koi herpes virus). The meeting provided a number of useful recommendations for governments and NACA on aquatic animal disease control in Asia-Pacific.

This report was prepared by the Asia Regional Advisory Group (AG) on Aquatic Animal Health (AGM-3) that met at the NACA Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 23rd-25th November 2004. Coverage includes:
