This organic standards document was developed by Conseil des appellations agroalimentaires du Qu?bec (CAAQ), in cooperation with Qu?bec's certification bodies with a view to develop a provincial consensus for the upcoming debate on the adoption of Canadian national standards.

The organic products certification system, as it is developed and implemented, focuses on production and processing procedures rather than solely verifying foodstuffs and agricultural products themselves. This monitoring of production "techniques" requires a truly responsible involvement by all parties concerned.

The following document orders the organic reference standards are according to production sectors. These certification requirements shall be followed before a product is designated organic, regardless of the certification body.
