General : East Asian Seas Congress, 23-27 November 2009, Philippines

PEMSEA together with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-Philippines) together bring the East Asian Congress 2009. The EAS Congress 2009 is hosted by the Government of the Philippines and supported by GEF, UNDP, UNOPS and CMC. It will be held on 23-27 November at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Manila. Carrying the theme Partnerships at Work: Local Implementation and Good Practices, the Congress will emphasize on-the-ground actions and innovations that contribute significantly in meeting national, regional and global environmental commitments.
In line with the activities leading to the EAS Congress 2009, an East Asia region wide photo contest with the theme, The Coast, The Ocean, My Community will run from 15 July 2008 to 31 December 2008. The photo contest has three categories -- Youth, Hobbyist and Professional -- and will emphasize the importance of turning knowledge and concern about the coastal and marine environment into actions.
