Hi Indulkar

Different species have very different habits. However, I used to work on a reef in Australia for a couple of years, and one trigger common to many species is water current. Many species will spawn mid-tide (especially wrasse and parrot fish), when the water velocity is highest, and usually when the water is moving off the reef although I have sometimes seen spawning on the rising tide. The tides are of course related to the lunar cycle, and this is important for at least some grouper species as well.

Water temperature is important for many species, spawning was far more obvious in summer months than winter, and some egg-laying species like seargent majors (damselfish) would adopt spawning colourations in the warmer months.

This is all pretty general and my comments only relate to what I've observed in reef fish, temperate species may be totally different. If you have an interest in a particular species, maybe someone will know.

Greetings ,

I wish to clear my doubts with respect to two points :

1)Monsoon in India :In India in monsoon fishing is not done ,i mean marine fishing is not allowed as its conceder breeding season for fish ,do we have data/observations to prove it or disprove it?

2)Hatchery friendly species :Which species are hatchery friendly ,that is we get hatchery seeds , do we get seeds all 12 months?what are the parameters that needs to be controlled.

Many Thanks n Regards
