dear all,

I would like to ask to all, how can we determined the shrimp is under feeding or not? After I experienced the FCR near three from the previous cycle of the shrimp farming, now, I put some extra attention on the feeding strategy. But, I'm also afraid that the shrimp is under feeding and can caused the shrimp wont grow fast. Please advice...
Thanks

How about samponin? It is wise to use samponin every 2 weeks for moulting of the shrimp?
Is it true that the shrimp can be cannibal when moulting is progressing? Please advice.

Recently, I've found out that my pond bottom had a lot of snail, just like a black carpet. The snail is small, and million of them. I've found out the sail when I drained my pond (after harvest). Is the snail will be a problem for culturing P. monodon? If yes, how to eliminate the snail?
I've heard, some farmers are using samponin in order to encourage the shrimp to moult. Is it a right way to do such things?

Dear Appaji,

Thank you for the reply. You mention 1 feeding trays per 1000 shrimp. How big is the tray? And how to determine when to increase the amount feed when the trays empty? Should I hold for couple of days or increase the feed instantly?

Thank You

Dear all,

I'm Irwan, from Indonesia. I have several ponds of P. Monodon. Lately, I was experiencing a very high FCR, almost 4. I'm confuse, how come my FCR was so high. Each pond (about 3000 sq.m) I put 4 feeding trays as a control system and each feeding trays I put 1% of the feed. After 1.5 hours I checked the trays. If 4 trays were empty, than I increased the feed but if 1 or 2 trays that not empty, than I held the feed the same amount. My feeding time per day was 5 times. I also experiencing the very high NH3, almost 1.5 ppm on the third month. My question is, how to control the FCR?

I've heard that feeding trays system can reduce the FCR to 1.4. Can you tell me how to do that system?

Thank you.
