Dear NACA Partners,
My name is Charles-Eric DUTEIL and I am 25 years old. Holder of a bachelor's degree in "aquaculture and sustainable development", I work currently in a trout hatchery (natural and photoperiod control spawning) where I have to participe to all the works involved with this activity but to manage a selective program too. Moreover, I have worked in a research center in Reunion's Island (Indian Ocean). The aim of the study was to define and compare the breeding performance of two stocks and one hybrid of Tilapia O. niloticus. Passionate for tropical aquaculture, I am looking for a job in a hatchery (or a farm), a research center or other aquaculture organization located in South or South-East Asia. Dynamic, open-minded and motivated, I invite any people interested by my application to contact me. My contact email address is charlericaqua@hotmail.fr Best Regards Charles-Eric DUTEIL

A. Background The live reef food fish trade (LRFFT) has been identified as a serious threat to coral reef ecosystems and biodiversity in many Southeast Asian countries, arising from the use of inferior fishing and husbandry practices along the custody chain. Increasing demand from major consumer markets is placing further pressure on fish stocks and entrenching the use of these sub-standard practises. In addition to ongoing LRFFT related programs that continue to make important and effective efforts to address trade concerns, there remains a need for innovative whole chain-of-custody approaches that support responsible fisheries capture and the development of sustainable aquaculture through trade and market mechanisms such as. Best Management Practices public and private sector partnerships. B. Scope As part of the WWF Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI), a two-year initiative to generate significant reform of the LRFT has been developed. Within this initiative, a strategic focus will be promoting the adoption and increased production of sustainable live reef fish (LRF) at a regional scale through full-cycle aquaculture (FCA). There are operations currently producing LRF from FCA; however volumes are insufficient to replace production of LRF drawn from wild stocks suggesting various constraints, impediments and costs are restricting its viability. WWF CTI is seeking an experienced consultant, preferably with links to relevant agencies, to undertake a short-term contract in support of the CTI LRFT initiative. The person must have substantial knowledge of finfish aquaculture, ideally grouper species, within Southeast and East Asia, have developed a network of industry contacts within government and the private sector and be able to liaise closely with stakeholders to meet the requirements of this contract. It is envisaged the work will occur across several producing and consuming countries, including; Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan Province of China, Hong Kong SAR and southern China). The major output of this contract will be a report that covers the following: * An historical overview of the development of full-cycle grouper aquaculture in the region, including prior initiatives to expand FCA production; * Evaluate the present trade status and sources of FCA production of key LRF species including production volumes, supply chain aspects with an emphasis on demand country influences and basic price and cost issues in the production and sale of maricultured LRF; and * Major constraints and impediments to the expansion of full-cycle aquaculture and to the take-up and adoption of sustainable better management practices. C. Dimensions The consultant does need to be based in any specific location but must be prepared to travel extensively in order to fulfil the requirements of this contract. The consultancy will be conducted as joint work between the Network of Aquaculture Centres of Asia and Coral Triangle LRFT Initiative Leader and will receive the necessary logistical support from the purposes of completing all activities. The consultancy will comprise an estimated total of sixty (60) working days and is expected to start during late May/early June 2008. D. Requirements The consultant will be able to demonstrate the following: * A substantial knowledge of finfish aquaculture, mainly grouper, within Southeast Asia * Experience working with relevant governmental bodies, NGOs and industry bodies; * High level skills in collating secondary data and collecting primary data and an ability to source and synthesise large quantities of data and information; * Excellent report writing skills and an ability to present meaningful and coherent recommendations; * Fluency in English and preferably one or more of Bahasa, Tagalog and Chinese languages (speaking, writing, reading); * Experience and skills in working as a consultant to NGOs; * A strong affinity with conservation and sustainable fisheries issues, specific knowledge of the live reef fish crisis and its associated impacts and issues. E. Expressions of Interest Individuals with an interest in conducting this consultancy should respond with a detailed CV, including two references by 20 May 2008 to Dr Geoffrey Muldoon, WWF/James Cook University (email: geoffrey.muldoon@jcu.edu.au) or Dr Michael Phillips, NACA: ![]() DO NOT SUBMIT APPLICATIONS OR ENQUIRIES AFTER THE DUE DATE

Our website is being moved to a new location on Monday, and it will take around 3 days for the changes to propagate to DNS throughout the internet.
The website will therefore be closed to new forums posts and registrations until Thursday 8 May, in order to avoid 'losing' any information. However, you will still be able to read it and download publications as per normal.

Geetings
In case ur unable to get commercial source to buy ,you can try collecting on your own, find a relatively moist place in a garden, under a cool shady spot keep some food in powder form cover it with moist paper /cloth and then with something little heavy like log or tiles (keep it moist)after few day you may see few earthworms collected in that place for feeding, which could be collected as parent stock for further culture. all the best ManyThanks, Indulkar indulkarshailu@yahoo.com India
